This privacy statement explains how we collect, use, and share your data when you use our app. Also this explains you, your privacy rights and how the law protects you. By using ecohome, you agree to the practices described below.
Information We Collect
1. User-Provided Information
We collect the following information when you perform different actions in the app:
- When you signup:
- When you add an item to your inventory:
- Item Details such as name, description, barcode, images, state, category, frequency of use and intent to share, rent or sell the item.
- When you share an item with a contact:
- Contact details such as email address and/or phone number and physical address for collecting or returning the item.
- Contact Preference: Date and time when you prefer to be contacted. Preferred mode of contact (Yet to be collected)
- Contact information of the person you want to share an item with
- When you update your profile:
- We collect your default contact information and contact preference that will be used when you do not have different contact information for the specific item that you are sharing.
- Default contact details such as email address and/or phone number and physical address for collecting or returning the item.
- Default contact Preference: Date and time when you prefer to be contacted. Preferred mode of contact (Yet to be collected)
- Your household name
- Your photo
- Goals
- Carbon footprint reduction
- Money saving
Automatically Collected Information
We may also collect information automatically when you use the app, such as:
- When you open the app:
- Device information such as device type and operating system
- When you Signup:
- Your user profile information such as First name, Last Name, and email address
- On usage: App usage data such as last login and features used.
How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data for the following purposes:
- Sharing Items: When you share an item with a contact, we notify them via email or SMS using the provided contact details. When users view the items shared by you, they will see your name and a small image icon of your profile photo to help them know who shared the item
- Inventory Tracking: We catalog and store your items along with their images to help you keep track of your belongings.
- Location-Based Features: Your location data is used to enhance your experience within the app, such as auto populating the address fields.
- Personalize your experience to enable better user experience and to provide you contextual recommendations and options that will enable you to save money and/ or reduce carbon footprint
- Usage data to improve your experience on the app and the value you get from the app.
Data Sharing and Third-Party Services
We do not sell user data.
We may share limited data with trusted third-party service providers solely for app functionality and analytics, such as:
- Analytics services (e.g., Firebase Analytics)
- Crash reporting services (e.g., Firebase Crashlytics)
- Cloud infrastructure and backend services
- Push notification services
- These third parties are contractually obligated to handle data securely and only for specified purposes.
Security Measures
We take every step available to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Which includes securing all our endpoints, encrypting data at rest and transit, and implementing data retention policies to minimize user data storage.
Your Choices
- You can review and update your contact and contact preferences in the My Profile screen of the app.
- You can review the list of contacts you have shared an item with on the item details page.
- Account Deletion: You may delete your account at any time, which will permanently remove your data.
- Opt-Out: You can opt out of certain data collection and sharing practices by adjusting your app settings or contacting support.

Account Deletion
Users can permanently delete their account and all associated personal information directly from the mobile application by following the steps below:
- Open the EcoHome mobile app
- Navigate to Profile
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select Delete Profile
- Press the confirmation button “Ok, Delete my Account”
Upon confirmation:
- Your account will be permanently deleted
- All personal information and data associated with the account will be removed from our systems, subject to applicable legal or regulatory retention requirements
Account deletion is irreversible. Once deleted, the account and related data cannot be recovered.
