Connect ecohome to your AI assistant

Ask your assistant what you own, and where it is. ecohome can share your household inventory with an AI assistant so it can answer questions like “what is in the garage?”. You choose to connect, and you can disconnect at any time.

What it does

When you connect, the assistant can read your ecohome inventory: find items, see where they are kept, and give you a summary of a household (how many items you have, their estimated value, and which rooms and categories hold the most). It cannot add, change or delete anything.

Which assistants work

  • Claude on the web (claude.ai) and Claude desktop: supported.
  • Claude on iOS and Android: supported once you add ecohome on the web first; it then shows up in the mobile app.
  • ChatGPT: supported. Find ecohome among the apps in ChatGPT and connect it; you then sign in and approve the connection the same way as for Claude below.
  • Gemini: not yet.

Connect to Claude

  1. Open ecohome in the Claude directory and select Connect.
  2. Sign in with your ecohome account.
  3. Read the screen that lists what will be shared, check your households, and select Allow.
  4. Back in Claude, start a chat and ask about your things.

You need an ecohome account that is set up in the app, with at least one household and an email address on the account. Connecting is for people aged 18 and over.

If the directory page does not open: use this link to add ecohome as a custom connector, or in Claude go to Settings, then Connectors, and add a custom connector with the name ecohome and the address https://mcp.ecohome.one/mcp.

What is shared

The assistant can see item names, brands, categories, quantities, locations (where an item is kept, when you recorded one in the app), descriptions and estimated values. This includes items added by other people in the households you choose.

The assistant cannot see receipts, emails, payment details, photos or documents, and it cannot change anything in ecohome.

The company behind the assistant (for Claude, Anthropic; for ChatGPT, OpenAI) handles what you share under its own privacy policy. See also the ecohome Privacy Policy.

How long a connection lasts

A connection lasts up to 90 days, or ends after 30 days without use. We email you each time an assistant is connected to your account.

Disconnect

  1. In ecohome: go to mcp.ecohome.one/connections, sign in, and choose Disconnect next to a connection, or Disconnect all. The assistant loses access straight away.
  2. In the assistant: in Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, find ecohome and remove it. In ChatGPT, find ecohome in your connected apps in its settings and disconnect it.

Got an email about a connection you did not make? Disconnect it at the link above, change your password and sign out your other sessions in the ecohome app. Then tell us at [email protected].

Things to try

  • “Which ecohome households can you see?”
  • “What is in the garage?”
  • “Do I own a cordless drill? Where is it?”
  • “Show the five items I added most recently in my main household.”
  • “How much stuff do I have at home, and what is it worth?”
  • “How many items are in each room?”

Items that came from forwarded receipts or email are not included in this first version. Searching by room finds only items you added in the app with a location; counts by room show items without a location as their own group.
